Full steam ahead

With cylinder drain cocks wide open and regulator opened up Tornado, Britain's most modern mainline steam locomotive, gets a heavy charter train on the move at Newcastle Central Station. The train was the Silver Jubilee Talisman which Tornado earlier hauled from London's Kings Cross to Newcastle and is seen here starting the return run from Newcastle which it took as far as York before handing over to an electric locomotive.

Great shot, David. Full of atmosphere and detail. Every time I see this loco I think of all the lost classes which have been thoughtlessly scrapped and could be built again.
Best wishes,
Andrew
