Wonderful control of light, Jon. An unusual and beautiful effect. I use a four pint milk container as diffuser, but the results don't look like this.

Some of it's down to the home-made softbox/diffuser and some of it processing, a Photoshop technique that's not too complex that I found online and tweaked a bit..
Of course having a photogenic subject helps, too!
