And rightly so.
Few things better than the old B&W when dames wore their hair long and were all dressed up, and guys had ties, raincoats and felt hats, and the death was never shown, and the cars were big and black, and taxi drivers wore caps, and kept moving the steering wheel from side to side while driving in a straight line, and the street swayed and jolted when seen through the rear window, and there were no TV sets in the background, and planes had propellers, and the highway patron had octogonal caps and leggings and the Harley-Davidson had wide handlebars, and the streets were dark and the shadows were long and threatening, and there were close-ups of faces, and the villain was always suave, and, and, and, and no mindless mass shoot 'em ups (and in westerns the white-hatted cowboy rather unnecessarily shot straight up into the air when chasing the black hats). And the long long long list of loss goes on and on and on…
