The Long Shop
by pauljay
Very little travelling this year and thus very little photography save from discovering that the Honeywell Pentax H3V I had been testing from my collection was letting in light - seriously! Hopefully, that is now being corrected.
So, a shot from earlier this year. Fans of traction engines will be familiar with the company Richard Garrett & Sons whose engineering works was located in Leiston, Suffolk, England. When the company finally closed down in 1981 a part of the works site was turned into a museum - The Long Shop Museum. The Long Shop had housed a production line which had adopted the American system of moving vehicles along the line stopping at prescribed points where parts would be added. When the vehicle reached the end of the Long Shop it would be complete, much as road vehicles and aircraft are produced today.
Not too enthusiastic about cropping the shot to fit the subject but it was necessary on this occasion to eliminate some distracting elements.
K-5/Tamron 28-300mm.
Paul.
