Gothic symmetry

When I posted recently a picture from one of the towers of the dome of Cologne, Paul requested a shot from inside - so here it is. As I already commented with the tower picture, the “marshals” in this church don’t accept tripods so I only had a chance to make one.
This one took me a while because I had to wait 5 times to get 5 shots without persons walking through the picture. It shows a side aisle of this church – already this is bigger than the nave of many other churches. It was kind of impossible (at least for me) to get the columns completely straight and upright without reducing the vertical dimension too much (and this room needs to show its vertical dimension) so I tried to find a balance between perspective correction and preservation of the height of the room.

Wonderful repetitive shapes and natural colours. If I may suggest, try to reduce the highlights because the window seems to overexposed a bit.

I know the grandeur of the building, and it appears that you achieved a great task with a hand-held camera. You must have added light, as it is not so lit inside the church.

Hi Nezih - no not handheld - this was the only one I could made before the marshals made it clear to me that my tripod is not wanted what a shme, they have a lovely church building and do not allow us to share images in a proper quality.... if this goes hand in hand with the former base of this religion - I dounbt it.....

Then, you were lucky enough at least to take one good shot. The outcome is fabulous. Yes, it's a great shame on their part.

Kudos on a shot like this, I struggle with the lighting in churches especialy backlit shots - the K-x realy struggles with this kind of scenario
