Old Mill at Boot

Boot is a small village in Eskdale with several rows of farmerhands' cottages now mainly holiday lets and of course a couple of delightful pubs. The mill operates still as a tourist attraction, but one fact in its story still amazes me and it is the path leading to the front door and also the entire interior floor is created by worn out grinding stones (such as the circular one standing in the foreground). However it takes 25 years approximately to wear one stone out!

Rich textures in the old stonework and careful composition make this a very satisfying image.
