A Small Village in the Middle East?

Maybe. But no, it isn't.
The fact is I took this photo in the American Southwest, just outside of Santa Fe, New Mexico.
I took this photo several years ago because it reminded me of images I had seen of villages in the Middle East - arid, dusty, and tenuous. Looking back at it some five years later, I still think of the Middle East.
