Gathering nectar

Honey bee on a geranium flower, gathering nectar taken with a K10D with a Tamron 90mm 1:2.8 lens. Trying to get the darned bee to stay still was nearly impossible

Hi Vicki!......the Tamron 90mm becomes super sharp at F5.6...wonderful colours though and Bees are the hardest thing in the insect world to take!....it is a really good effort.............Ken

Thanks for the comments - will try at f5.6 to see if it makes a difference, is this the sweet spot for this lens??

Hi Vicki.....it is super sharp from F 5.6 to F8.0!...But if you are going in closer for real macro shots, you need to shoot at F11/F16 to get the Dof!.......complicated this macro lark! ,it's all a matter of experimentation,I normally work in AV mode and just try a couple of shots at different appertures.....just a matter of spinning the wheel......all the best and good luck..........Ken
