I see you've "letterboxed" it for here. I liked it with the dark rocks in the foreground as per the origonal.

It is a really nice image, but I also liked the original better too, this just shows how much the perception of 'a good photo' is down to personal preference.

Have to agree with David - loses much of the appeal with this crop much preferred the other.It is a really nice image, but I also liked the original better too, this just shows how much the perception of 'a good photo' is down to personal preference.

That said - if this was the only one I had seen - I would be saying - nice shot of my favourite English Castle

Thank you all for the kind comments. The original does look better on my computer but I have the advantage of seeing it full size. I think with all photographs it's a case of "Beauty is in the eyes of the beholder" I think I'll have to print them out in each format to make my own mind up. It is good to get the differing opinions and hints and tips.
