Grass Snake

by PhilCarter

Found this little fella sunning him/herself on a wall back in September. Unfortunately, I didn't get the focus quite on the eye.

We have these snakes resident in our garden and the surrounding area. One of my main wildlife photography objectives for this year is to get some quality shots of them, but they are difficult subjects as they are so shy. I've seen some approaching 5 or 6 feet long, but mainly it's the young ones we get.

Your shot is almost perfect Phil, just a shame about the focus as you say.

I was lucky that this one stopped to pose for a few shots but as you say they, don't tend to hang about too long. I don't know if early in the year would be the best time to get them as they emerge from hibernation, as with Adders.

......or did I dream it?
