Gothic masterpiece

by davidtrout

The beautiful geometric lines of The Nave in Wells Cathedral - a perfect example of mediaeval ingenuity in the face of near disaster. After subsidence threatened the area around the crossing and the tower in the Middle Ages architects devised the wonderful scissors arches to support the structure; a device that has served well for hundreds of years.

Very impressive (picture and story)
