Reelin' in the years

But for the stout roll cage and neat race numbers, this might almost be 1965. The prosaic reality, though, is that the shot was taken on August 29 2011 - Lotus Cortina driver Les Ely contests the Historic Touring Car Championship race at Oulton Park, Cheshire. Taken with Sigma 150-500mm f5-6.3.

All the boy racers wanted one in 1965! Nice one.

You know what they say about never meeting your heroes? I fell in love with Lotus Cortinas as a five-year-old... and got to test one, at Silverstone, when I was about 22. It felt predictably horrible compared with most newer cars I'd driven, but that didn't stop me loving them. I shall post another photo or two in due course.
