It certainly gets the miserable feeling across. Do people live in those boats in this weather?

Hi Pal,
OH Yes! There are lots of folk living on narrow boats all year and all over England. Retired folk, people that work but are not tied to one place,I.E. chef's,carpenters etc.
I recntly met one lady who lives on her narrow boat with her 15 year old daughter. She tends to move up & down the River Lea around Ware, where her daughter attends school. This lady has a lathe on her boat and makes small tuned itams which she sells from a little stall she sets up on the towpath.
On a well built boat life can be quite comfortable, however there are also a lot of water bums living like tramps on tatty run down wrecks. It takes all sorts, dunnit?
Best Regards, Larry.

All the gear & no idea.
