The more I see of this engine the more I'm impressed by it John. It was never considered to be a great loco in its working days, just an unusual one off. But since its restoration its been outperforming many of its rivals. Close up to it you get an impression of sheer size.
Its good to see it here in your shot, when you took it the light must have been fading fast.

Thanks guys, it's the first time I've seen it in the metal, quite impressive, but I don't know much of the history, is it not a redesign of LMS Princess Coronation Class (Duchess)?
Yes David the light was fading, I decided not to push the ISO too far for fear of excessive noise, looks like I got away with 1/100th sec. the last time I metered the chosen spot I was getting 1/250th sec. maybe SR saved me
It was getting a bit chilly out there on the platform Cliff, but yes well worth the wait
Regards,
John

although it was overcast, you have managed to retain good definition and tonal range in your photograph - well taken.
Not everything in life is Black & White, If only it were!
