These produce a nice orange flower in a few weeks time.

It's called crocosmia and it will take over if you don't keep on top of it ! The old name for it was montbretia.

Both the *istDS and the K5 are incurably addicted to old glass

Thanks very much for the info David...just did a search on that name and that's exactly what we have.

You are dead right about it spreading...I normally cut it back about every 2 years but it's worth keeping for the orange flowers which although small are plentiful and they seem to last for a couple of months which is nice.
