On 'The Twig' tonight... a European Hornet

European Hornet [Vespa crabro]
Possibly my favourite insect... for photography and around the allotment... it is one of the "good guys"!

Single hand held... the other was holding my photographic accessory.... "The Twig".

Hence the 1/400th..... for a 100mm lens....

go4IT... apparently, that third eye allows it to position accurately....
I have seen one leave the 3/4" slot in the trap without moving left or right, forwards or backwards.... it just rose slowly upward and flew off...
and I didn't think to switch to video!! I was too mesmerised!!
