Duck Log, Slimbridge

With so many Swans, Ducks and Geese about I suppose I was seeing ducks everywhere!

Yes I like it but what intrigues me are the two birds sitting on the lower horizontal branch/root. Any idea what they are, they look like small ducks are they a branch of the wooden duck family.

Thanks for your comments. The last sent me to Peter Scott's Key to the Wildfowl of the World published in 1968. The best I can do with my limed knowledge of the thousands of different ducks, is to think that the left one is an eider duck and the one on the right is a Pochard. However they are about 50 yards away from the camera and would have been difficult to positively identify without binoculars and possibly an expert to help. John
