I'm not good enough or patient enough for the 'Bird on stick' type shots and the few wildlife shots I take tend to be of this type, I still enjoy taking them though.

I think you perhaps underestimate your bird snapping prowess! This is more than a decent bird shot. What I see is that you captured your subject, the bird, using your landscape expertise and the approach worked to your favor. 😉
