Thanks Giulio! I would have prefferrd a low shutter speed pan shot myself. But the scenario was that we were driving along and got stopped to let this train cross so I quickly unpacked my camera, jumped out of the van and just started shooting. As I only had seconds to do so, I just started shooting without much regard to camera settings. This pic was actually very underexposed but I liked what I could do with it in LR.
After seeing my shots, I too said, "Dang, should have gotten some panning shots with slow shutterspeed".
I have now purposed to shoot a moving train in this fashion. 😉

I thought they only shot at trains in wild west movies? (you did say you were being wild) (I'll go back to sleep now)

With the length of freight trains in the 'States I'm sure you fired off more than one shot!? I remember getting stuck at a crossing just outside Kansas City once. The train was so long I could have left the car in line and gone off to get lunch somewhere without holding up road traffic!! Fun shot Donna!

Thanks Paul! Yes, you can sometimes sit for 10 minutes, especially in the main city of Springfield here, waiting for the trains to pass. They are currently constructing a high speed rail so there are many traffic interruptions of slow moving trains and street construction. The price of progress, I guess! 😕
Cheers...Donna 😊
