Also, I've found that mono processing isn't the same as colour. To get something worth looking at, in this case at least, I had to work on bringing out the texture more than I would have in colour.
An important feature for me in this picture is the brown stamen (better seen in the larger version by clicking on the image above). That splash of warm colour makes a pleasant focal point in all that white and green. That, of course, is completely lost in the mono.
