Maybe you should have used a Pentax then.

I am not sure what the relation between :

and the use of Pentax gear should be, other than providing a real chilly welcome to a new member, who probably isn't aware of some rules but most likely is in possession of a Pentax slr/dslr. But is wise enough to choose a much lighter camera on a Everest expedition.

Nice picture BTW, considering the used camera and elements, you were dealing with.

Martin.
Best regards,

Martin.

I am very happy to be a Pentax owner. Just bought a Pentax K-7, with 18-55mm and 50-200mm kit lenses 14 days ago.

This is my first dSLR! Up until 14 days ago I was still using 35mm slide film! Have taken the K-7 up 3 mountains so far and it has been through some tough conditions. It is coping really well (it copes better than I do!) and I am very pleased with it. Bought it from SRS Microsystems who provided a brilliant service.

Big drops, high altitudes, ladders and crampons do not mix! This photo was taken in 2001, I was using SLR cameras with manual focus lenses due to extreme conditions. Did however use a very small and simple digital camera (sorry it was a Kodak, but there was not much choice in 2001!) In fact brand new batteries lasted less than half a day! This photo was taken on our first trip up to camp 2 in the Western Cwm.

Would now happily use a Pentax, in fact intend to use Pentax K-7 on my next big mountains. Just got to adjust to digital photography and learn how to use it.

Have just spotted the 31mm, 43mm and 77mm limited edition lenses! Will have to save up for them, they look world class lenses! Is Samsung bringing out a 85mm f1.4 (would this be a Pentax lens with a Samsung badge?).

Shooting everything in RAW and coming to terms with the Pentax Digital Camera Utility version 4!
