HST- A long view

by davidtrout

I've always been fascinated by perspective compression achieved by using long telephoto lenses and then big blow ups.
This was taken at Durham station a sunny day a few weeks ago while testing my brand new D FA* 70-200 Pentax lens on the K3.
The picture of an HST travelling at around 80-90mph on the East Coast Mainline was taken at 200mm and then very heavily cropped. The compression shows atmospheric distortion and also emphasises the unevenness of the track - not noticeable in a normal view.
K3+ D FA*70-200mm lens at 200mm.

Very interesting - now I know why you get joggled around on the East Coast main line in places.
