Cairn Gorm View - Portrait

by PeterMac

Portrait version of view from just off the summit of Cairn Gorm in the Scottish Highlands. The summit under the sun's gaze is Sron na Lairige (1180m). This shot is taken from midway between the summit of Cairn Gorm (1245m) looking west. The steep side of Sron na Lairige drops dramatically into the large glacial feature known as the Lairig Ghru, from the south the Lairig Ghru can be approached from Braemar though Glen Lui, or Glen Dee, and from Blair Atholl through Glen Tilt. From the north the Lairig Ghru can be approached from Glen More through the Chalamain Gap, and from Aviemore through the Rothiemurchus Forest by way of the Crossroads above Allt Druidh.

This is a good shot. The recent spate of snowy weather in Scotland has made life difficult but photography interesting. Well done!
