Thanks for the comments, it was great to see these cars out on the old Nordschleife rather than the modern GP circuit.
Re. the lighting, it very early on in the morning so the sun was still rising. It was pretty tricky as I was starting the pan directly into the sun where the cars exit the bend, then had to pan very quickly as I was only a few feet away from the point at which the car passed. I got quit a few 'keepers' from this spot though.
