[quote:3496ace15f="loskeran"]First thing set the date right,2008?
practice - practice and again, And read the book (manual)
Your new camera is a semi-professional camera and so is infinitely settable to the requirements of the user.
Read other books on the subject of digital photography, and you will then understand more about what you have got.
Just pressing the "button" will not give you perfect shots.
What ever you do dont give up.[/quote
OOOPS! Date adjustd! thank's for pointing it out.

Your exposure is off as was the exposure on my first snow scenes
All that bright reflective snow has fooled your cameras meter into thinking there was more light than there actually was, you need to overexposed by up to two stops in conditions like this, your manual will explain how to adjust the exposure compensation, better still read up on how to set your camera to bracket exposures then study the results.
You might be able to adjust this in photoshop but getting it right in camera will produce far better results.
As for composition you can only learn by studying other peoples work and experimenting yourself, but dont let composition stop you from snapping away, you can still learn about getting exposure right from snapping the most mundane of subjects, not that this one is mundane of course
