Borrowdale back in February
by Bagworth
Have been struggling with this series of images. The light conditions were extraordinary, with very strong light as we looked southwards. The sky was constantly changing and the bare birch trees became ethereal, almost spooky, under the right conditions. I was out with Mark Littlejohn and neither of us had experienced conditions quite like it. I hope people enjoy this version, these are still WIP.
I took many shots, this composition is my favourite at the moment and I have just gone back to reprocess it. All handheld and most with it stopped way, way down to control the sky, no filters (at all).

A moody image! Very difficult to get right. You've done a good job IMO. The eye is amazing as it adapts to seeing the dark clearly and bright sky clearly somehow. I often stop down/ underexpose quite a bit to keep sky detail and the boost the shadow parts!

Thank you - would that be in the "Most Difficult to Process" category?

If you don't ask you'll never know
