Fungi ?

by markm

Found what appeared to be small fungi in the images I took of the Acorns. Reshot this morning, getting as close as I could with the 100mm macro lens. the cropping as much as I dare. Total of 54 images stacked with Helion Focus

Well spotted - the little perishers will grow anywhere! You appear to be set up for precision so try a short tube and a reversed 50mm lens?

I have been looking at various YouTube videos about macro. I will have to look into that method. I guess a manual lens would be needed.

Just watched a video, no need to get another lens, just hold the aperture lever with tape / blu-tack, obvious really.

If you take the glass out of an A series 1.7 50mm (easy to do) and mount that as your 'extension tube you will find that the camera will happily control the aperture as normal. You then set any (M42 for example) lens to wide open and reverse mount it onto the front of the ex A series 1.7 et voila - a fully controllable mega macro set up.
I think it was 'John le Frog' who first suggested this on this very forum, donkey's years ago and there is an in depth account available. Put the words "empty lens" in a search engine. The site is no longer supported and comes with warnings.

Just searched for "empty lens" and found a very useful article on the Extreme Macro site. Thanks for the info, will hunt out an old Pentax A 50mm.
