Amaryllis

AKA: Belladona Lily, Jersey Lily, Naked Lady, Amarillo, Easter Lilly, March Lilly. However, it is only distantly related to the true lily, "Lilium". In the Victorian language of flowers, amaryllis means "love, beauty and determination, and can also represent hope and achievement.
In my own view, this is one determined flower, seen in its defiantly thick stems, abundant blossoms, and very rapid growth --- as if to say: "No matter what, I'm going to be strong, and survive and thrive! I may be here only for a short time, but you WILL notice me!

By "early example" I assume early in its lifespan? Well, there were several other blossoms before these two.
