Sacred View

Photo of the Week by mcrtchly

The iconic Church of the Sacred Heart in Dunlewey, County Donegal, nestled at the foot of the county’s quartzite giant, Errigal, frosted white with recent snow and catching the dying rays of the winter sun. Completed in 1877, this wee church built in the Hiberno-Romanesque style, was designed by architect Timothy Hevey and built by James McAdorey from Belfast. Getting this shot involved a bit of a bog trot during which time we both fell over. Luckily, we both had a ‘soft’ landing, and nothing more than our pride was damaged!!! 6 stop ND and 0.6 grad breakthrough photography filters

Nice shot...well worth the effort...and somewhere within these isles that I don't think i've seen before.

The "frame" of Errigal works nicely. A strong photo, well-worth the arduous trip to capture it. Like.
