Retro Express

by davidtrout

The 1930s-built ex LMS 4-6-2 loco Princess Elizabeth has been busy with mainline steam charter trains over the past few years but is about to be taken out of service for a major overhaul.
On Saturday it was speeding up the West Coast Mainline to Carlisle and then back to Birmingham via the Settle and Carlisle Railway.
Here it is charging through Oxenholme, near Kendal.

What a great thing to see them still running! Looks beautiful with the light, smoke and steam. Great shot, David!

Cracking shot, would like to see the overhead cabling done away with though but certainly not a criticism.
Enjoy life

The overhead cables are aesthetically annoying but they are part the railway scene so I've learned to live with them.
As Froggy has demonstrated elsewhere in The Gallery there are locations where you can photograph steam trains without overhead wires.
