Resident killer

This sparrowhawk was locked on to his next victim and has taken many birds including sparrows a male blackbird and collard dove from our garden.

Lovely portrait.
We had a nesting pair for several years but people complained about the noise they made. .... The council chopped their tree down !!

in the area surrounding and including our property. Every few days I'll notice a carpet of white feathers from another unlucky resident wood pigeon on the grass or our path. Luckily we have quite a few pigeons...hence the attraction i suppose.
Now that dawn is arriving later I keep telling myself I should do a stake out with camera and hope to catch the killer in the act.
