RESCUED DRAGONFLY

Picked it out of a puddle, dried out and unstuck the wings. Placed it eventually in a sunny spot.

Cedric, this is great!
What a privilege to hold such a creature & be able to see it up close.
Imagine a (fossil) one of these - a metre across!!

Roger, this was in a very sorry state when I fished it out of a very muddy puddle at Minsmere today. Water surface tension was holding both pairs of wings together and seeds were adhered all over it. I felt very priveleged to hold it, as it dried out and I was able to remove some of the debris. Eventually it was able to beat its wings, I left it on a sun drenched bush.

Not a hard choice really, if it had been in a pond or river I would have left it for aquatic creature food. To me that`s "natural." This one, however was in a puddle in the middle of a busy path. I felt sure that it would die by drowning or crushing underfoot. Back to the photo, I am quite pleased but a shame I clipped a wing. Holding a K10 with a long Tamron zoom and unable to twiddle me buttons has given a fair result. Always worth pushing the button.
