R101 Grave

by Lucky Lee

This is part of the mass grave, in Cardington (Bedfordshire), of the 48 Officers, crew and passangers (including the Air Minister) who were killed when the airship R101 crashed on its maiden voyage to India.
The hangers, one from which the R101 flew from, are slightly more to the left behind some trees.
Google R101 to find out more.

Thanks. I used to live in Cople, the next village to Cardington, and it was years before I visited the grave.

Many thanks Shaun. After this shot I went 'ambulance chasing' along the A603 only to find the 3 fire appliances, ambulance and 2 police cars had gone in the opposite direction! I'll never make it as a press photographer

A first-rate shot. Lovely lighting and contrast and perfect composition.
Best wishes,

Thank you all very much, I appreciate your comments .

I wanted to get the WW2 RAF graves in the picture but they are too far round to the right.

Nice shot. I like the B/W conversion, the angle of the view and the dramatic sky.
