Picnic on the Quantocks

by jeg1961

This photo is taken in the picnic area on the Quantock Hills. I only live about 5 miles from this area of the hills. I wish I could get to the hills more often, but due to my illness I am not allowed to drive and have to rely on my daughter and son-in-law to take me to such places.

Thank you for your comment, I have only just converted to dslr from a point & shoot in September 2011. So I am a newbie to this type of photography and I am learning and experimenting using my camera. What I like about my camera is it takes instant photos that I could not capture on my digital camera due to the delay from pressing the shutter button to the actual capture of the subject especially moving objects.

My wife loves this photo as we both have grown up in this area, the picnic area has several stone built bar-be-cue grills for the general public to use, hence the rising smoke in the photo. Our own parents have taken us here when we were kids in the 1960's, we have taken our own 2 daughters to the picnic area and earlier this year we took our grandson.

There is something for all ages to do at any time of the year, with miles of nature trails and spotting the wildlife etc, but I have still not seen the herd of Red Deer that roam in these hills!
With more patience, practice and learning, I hope one day I will be able to take beautiful photos like this.
