physalis peruviana

by LennyBloke

Also known as the Cape Gooseberry or the Sunberry - these plants from the Nightshade family produce the characteristic "Chinese lantern" (how I knew them as a child) with a berry in the centre that starts of a deep green and gradually ripens to a yellow/orange colour with its content not dissimilar to a small tomato but with a more intense and maybe sweeter flavour.

It's the first year I have any success with these plants and now have 3 of them starting to produce mature fruits.

This photo was simply a test of the SMC Pentax FA 50mm f1.4 at maximum aperture.

Successful test I would say!
