Amazing! Despite being an Engineer, I didn't realise that our coinage had any iron (Fe) content; so much for those metallurgy lectures all those years ago, I hang my head in shame. I didn't believe your explanation, I thought that you must have glued them with Epoxy Resin, till I tested my coins with a small magnet and was amazed, I found that only our so called copper coins have sufficient Fe to be detected with a magnet! Thank you for the enlightenment.
All five minute jobs take a minimum of eight hours!

Only more recent British coppers have some iron in them, older ones do not. You can sort the coins by date by waving a magnet over them!Amazing!
