Shooting this wide open has severely restricted the amount of in-focus petal. Had you focussed on the nearest edge and set it at (say) f6.3 all of the frilly bits towards the front would have been in focus and you would still have retained the nice OOF colours in the background. Pity, because the colours are really nice.
Both the *istDS and the K5 are incurably addicted to old glass

Lovely shot. Really like the OOF colours. But have to agree with davidwozhere's comment.

Thanks for your honest appraisal davidwozhere and jockey1. I can now see exactly what I did wrong and will hopefully choose the correct focusing point and f-stop in future floral shots.Thanks for taking the time to view and comment, it is really appreciated and hope I can put it to good use...Kind regards..tommyt.
