Just having a play with some photos from a few months back now I have a better idea of using software to pull out a bit more detail. K-r and Pentax 18-250mm

Yangon in Myanmar (or Rangoon in Burma if you are stuck in the BBC timewarp). Shwedagon Pagoda across the lake.

I was close then!!.. Don't worry about the possibility of confusing me with the city/country names - I work in the international express parcels business!!

It's not a BBC timewarp Chris! Certain countries, including the UK and US, have never recognised the country's present administration because of its record on human rights. Therefore the change of name wasn't recognised either. That situation seems to have changed quite dramatically over the last few weeks with trade sanctions being lifted by the EU and others.
Interesting shot.

Before visiting there for the frist time I had no idea the name had changed either. What suprised me, though, was the insistence of all the people we met using Myanmar, rather than Burma, even those who were very anti the current regime, so it's not just a political re-naming, whatever the UK and US governments think.
Things are certainly changing, though. I do worry it will be wall to wall McDonalds and western clothing next time we visit, though!

Milamber - if you haven't already done so, I'd recommend a trip into Cambodia when you are over in that neck of the woods. A must-seeis Angkor Wat.
