Just going through my pictures from the British F1 GP @ Silverstone.
Lewis Hamilton's car sits in the Mercedes garage ready for Fridays practice.
This is from the Thursday fans pitwalk, applied a couple of the in camera filters to it and like the effect. Shame theres a sticker on the end of the nose cone saying '1st SPARE'.

As a matter of interest, George, which of the in-camera filters did you use?

Thanks for your kind comments, I have to confess this came out far better than I could have hoped and is one of my favorite shots from the weekend.
Ever since the K5 mk1 I predominately shoot in TAv mode now and let the auto ISO sort itself out. Wouldn't normally shoot at ISO 5000 but during the pitwalk it was manic so I keep the shutter speed up and kept shake reduction off because I was being bumped into constantly by the other 1000 ish people trying to see /get pictures so figured that would give me more keepers. Ideally/in hindsight I could have tried a few different settings but by then the moment may be gone with crew in front of the car (it was difficult to get clear shots of the cars).
Simon for info this was shot in raw and converted to jpeg in camera. I would have used in camera noise reduction on a lowish setting, that jpeg then had the 'Extract colour' filter applied picking out 2 colours (blue and green or dark blue and light blue) with a wide range hence the toning of the bodywork I guess. I used this filter in conjunction with the 'High Contrast ' filter at a low setting which helped darken the blacks / background and gave the image a more moody look. To be fair I did experiment with a number of filter combinations before getting to this - the evenings on the campsite gave me plenty of time to experiment ! Finally, in lightroom I have increased the exposure by a 1/3 and +20 on clarity.
If I was any good at photoshop I would remove the label on the end of the nose cone as I find it distracting but I tend to do all my work in lightroom, and thats not much.

Graphic use of light to highlight details in the car against the black background. It makes a satisfying image.
