Not one by one, but two by two... Why?

Hi nezih,
It's 'cos they are a pair of working boats; only one has an engine. on the narrow canals they are seperated, the motor towing the other, and at the locks the one without the motor is pulled into the lock by rope from the towpath by the Bargee.
Best Regards, Larry.

All the gear & no idea.

I like the composition and the muted colours. It has vintage feeling...

There can't be many working boats left? This makes it an even more interesting picture. I read 'The river hobbler's apprentice', by Alan Butt, 'memories of working the Severn and Wye', recently, which was a good account of the way of life on the water, which this image evokes. There are a few boats in Gas street basin which are still cargo carriers but most are for trips or cruising now.

Best wishes,

David W
