Moon Shot

by MikeInDevon

I've been looking back at some photos I took of the Moon a long time ago. Then I used my Meade 105mm ETX telescope and took photos looking straight at the eyepiece with a compact camera, I was very surprised at how good the results were and have not been able to repeat this as that camera broke. Anyhow I have several times tried to take a Moon photo with my DSLR, first with my K-50 without much success and now today with my K-1.

This is about the best I managed to get today, it was taken during the day (at 16:16 not 17:16) with a Pentax K 200mm f4 and a Vivitar MC Teleconverter 3x - 22. Live View, manual focus and exposure. Taken at f8 ISO800 1/200s equates to 600mm f22. Post processed, cropped and converted to B&W with DxO.

Still nowhere near as good as the old 'eyepiece' shots I took years ago, If possible I really must try attaching the K-1 to the telescope directly but the K-1 may be too large and heavy for the telescope's mount.
