Painterly effect in this very well composed B&W. You run the greyscale gamut too. Though I would have removed the matter in upper right.

I can try though it may be beyond my cloning skills.

We were sitting outside with a hot drink, it's a string of outside decorative lights the cafe had strung out.

Hi Paul,

I agreed, this was the scan from Analogue Wonderland which I'd processed to reduce the stark contrast, their scan was quite a bit darker than what I uploaded. The film was Ilford HP5+ 400ISO so its grain is obvious.

I've had the negatives back now for a few days and have scanned some negatives myself, including this image. I'm using an old but good Nikon Coolscan 4000 ED scanner and its results look much more reasonable.

I've reposting this image with my scan result, I've tweeked it a bit by increasing the contrast whilst retaining the shadow detail, to my eyes this result is much better! See link below:
