Thank you for your comment - I left in colour as it seems so sombre - and I am afraid that is how it looks round by me!

I think there is a b&w button in photoscape - give me 2 minutes

Thank you all for your comments.

It affirms that my hobby is a very subjective one - what appeals to one person does not appeal to another!

The original shot is straight off camera - the lack of colour is due to the light - grey,cold, wet and horrible!

I wathched the dove for a while - and she/he seemed so sad - I would not want to be out there myself!

That is why I prefer the first - it conveys the mood.

I agree with Giulio (and thank you very much for your feedback) - black and white looks sharper - and I am sure I can improve it stil further in a post processor - but the first image conveys the sadness, which is why I took my camera outside.
