Beautiful image!
The pure white of the plumage of this lovely bird, against the colour & texture of the grasses & water make for a memorable image!
I often see these birds around here & I'm always struck by two things:
Their diminutive size, one somehow expects them to be bigger & their wonderful legs & feet.

wouldn't it be great if we had black legs & yellow feet!!!

Lovely Shot, I know just how hard it is to get close enough to one to get a shot like this, where was it taken.

Love the look of your dog too.

this looks great - the contrast of strong green and brilliant white is very good and the sharpness of the bird ist outstanding

Thanks all for your comments.
This was taken at Watt Tyler Park in Basildon, I was in a hide taking pictures of a curlew when a flash of white caught my attention in the corner of my eye. This bird was fishing there, unfortunately it never caught anything or I would have a lovely shot with a fish in its beak.
Needless to say, Jumbo, I had left the dog at home on this day

Russ.

I really like the natural feel of this. The environment is important here, great shot.
