Kingfisher

by Weston246

Spotted this little chap by the bridge at Bradford On Avon. It didn’t hang around for long, so I was pleased that I was able to grab a quick shot of him.

Great shot...however really 'rubbing it in' to those of us who haven't yet captured such a shot despite using 300mm (+).

105mm on a FF !

Best wishes

Thanks Karlo, there are a pair of Kingfishers that regularly fly up and down this stretch of river. The river is quite busy, as the rowing club is next to the bridge and the river has a gravel path that makes it popular with walkers, because of that, the Kingfishers have become a little less timid than usual. Kingfishers often use the same Fishing perches, so it pays to be patient and to be prepared. Having said that, normally I use my 150 - 450 on my K-1, but on the day I took this, I’d opted for the far lighter setup and just struck lucky that the Kingfisher landed only about 10 feet from me, before shooting off down the river like a flash of blue lightning. Hope you have as much luck as I did. 😊👍🏻🤞🏻

Thanks for the detailed explanation...we could do with some of that avian bravado up near my stretch of the River weaver! pleased for you that you got the opportunity you did.

That's a cracker, not only shows off the bird very well, but has a great composition too.

Kind Regards
