Thanks indeed for your kind remarks, which I find most encouraging.

I felt I was getting into a hole of mediocrity with my snaps, but then went out "for a ride in the car" with the misses, took the camera & this beauty presented him(?)self!

Closer with the Sigma is self-evidently the answer!
I know this is my best bird piccy ever!

Thanks again,

Roger.

thinks....... that kingfisher.....?

Nice capture Roger. I am curious as to what post processing you did? There is an obvious halo around the Kestrel and wires, which could be reduced with certain actions depending on what occurred. Cheers. Zed.

Thanks for your interest, Zed.

Jpeg from camera.

Then, in PSE9:

Cropped.
Adjust lighting, shadows/highlights.
Unsharp mask.

Then NeatImage de-noise.

PSE9:
Adjust colour saturation.

Save as!

Any help/suggestions welcome!

Roger.

p.s., I don't find the halo-ing intrusive/objectionable.....
