Interesting, looks like a model to me but I presume this is the effect a tilt shift lens gives. The lighting on top of the buildings looks too bright when compared to the offices in the background which appear to be in semi darkness.

Look forward to furher comments !

This is a model - but not just a model it is THE Model . since 10 years, they build the migest miniature model of the world and this photo is just a tiny fragment of the airport szene. The overall model is breath taking - hundreds of trains and real moving aircrafts, thousands of moving cars and 10 thousands of static cars, I assume, nearly a million human figures and so many details that you can spend days there and still discover new details.
Not so easy to take pictures there - it is absolutely allowed but so crowded, that it is very difficult to find a got position, nearly impossible to mount a tripod and I think, they also use a special lightning, which causes a very greenish tone - so you also have to spend some time with the white balance during post processing

I like it. It would keep the tilt shift or post processing groups discussing for ages.

I can see it is a model (a very good one) but I also really like the shot. Thanks for letting us see Axel.

I think you did very well with the limited DOF available. Which airport does this depict?

Hi Paul - this is a model that is not based on a real airport - they call him Flughafen Knuffingen (which also in German language is a funny name - knuffig is a child wörd and means small and cute). Small yes but note cute - the airport is hyper-realistic. It took 6 years to build it, 150.000 working hours, 40.000 manually installed LEDs, 100 km cabel, 15.000 figures (just in this part of the giant model), and 1000 m tracks. It cost 3,5 millionen Euro.....
During the last years, the Miniaturwelt became the most visited tourist attraction not just of Hamburg but of complete northern Germany (1.1 million visitors just in 2011 - 1.4 wanted to see it, but the capacity of the place did not allow more than 1.1) and all is based on the idea and the initiative of two twin brothers.
