Our son aged 2 and a few months asleep in his child seat in our old Citroen BX. We were on holiday in Brittany, this image was taken using my OM1 in 1988.
Continuing my experiment with using a negative/slide copier. I've now managed to get colour negatives to convert correctly. I use an unexposed part of the colour negative film, in this case Kodak GB 200, and take a 'Custom White Balance' through it. Then I photograph the colour negative using this white balance, invert the colours and adjust the contrast is needed. All this is done in camera using the Digital Filter functions. This attempt worked particularly well!

Thanks, the key bit seems to be getting a good custom white balance off of an unexposed part of the film stock. Well done...a reliable workflow
So far I've had the best results from Kodak film, Fuji hasn't worked nearly as well (so far) it seems to have much less contrast and the colours don't seem to be as good. I'll keep trying!

I think having the Macro lens is a real help, it's very sharp and using a zoomed in live view means I can get the focus spot on.
Previously I've used my Nikon film scanner, this is very good but so slow... I've tried using 'photo' flatbed scanners but not had very good results. What scanner do you use?

Hi Mike, I use an Epson V330, a budget machine for which I paid less than €100! I saw it recommended in Amateur Photographer which led me to check out other reviews. I must have run more than 10,000 slides and negatives through it at this stage! No doubt it has been superceded by now but it would certainly be worth checking out the follow up.

Like Paul I've not had much success copying colour slides to digital. A friend did some for me on a Nikon scanner a few years back and one or two of them were OK but not brilliant.I never had much success with a slide copier so I moved to an Epson flatbed! No turning back! Cute shot!

Your example looks very good Mike.

This example was from a colour negative, which have been the most struggle to get working well. I've also done some colour slide and B&W negatives, they worked pretty well to, I'll post an example of a colour slide result.
