Horse fly. (Tabanus bovinus)

The biggest damn fly I've ever seen!!! it was at least 1" long, taken this morning at home,.... very carefully.

Sorry to disagree Jackitec but bees have 4 wings, and longer antennae, no it IS a fly, as far as stripes are concerned there are several flies with 'em, ie hover flies and other Diptera species, plus those compound eyes could only belong to a fly!!!That's a teeny one you should see ours in Spain, if I could get one to stay still that is, but I think it is a bee of some kind, flies don't have stripes
