Hare

by saltholme

This hare was managing to find a little grass to eat from under the snow at the bottom of a tussock.

"Fantastic capture and very nice compo"
Agree absolutely! It is a lovely picture. These wonderful creatures are getting rather scarce, and are certainly hard to catch like this- very shy and alert. Did you have to bring that hefty lens into action in a hurry, or did you know there were hares there and set up your tripod and lie in wait? Makes me shiver to think of it in this weather!

This is one sharp shot the colours are really rich and contrast perfect against the white that look you have captured is for me nothing short of an amazing sight
Brilliant
Those eyes are so well recorded what an achievement
All the best

I was walking around to one of the hides at RSPB Saltholme when I came across this hare. It was too intent on eating to pay me much attention (the camera was on a tripod). Just before this a weasel was running around my feet but I was unable to get a focus - the K10 focussing is not state of the art!!The cold weather can make the wildlife do unpredictable things.

Cheers

Superb - well done. Which lens did you use? A fixed 500mm or one of the sigma zooms?
